How can I get rid of something on my credit report?

I am applying for a job at a bank, and they pulled my credit report, which showed that I owe $200 to Sprint. I had an account with them over 4 years ago, and they don't have any record of me. How can I take care of it?

How can I get rid of something on my credit report?
You need to understand the Fair Credit Reporting Act laws.....

Credit Reporting Agencies (CRA's) do not investigate your reports. They only put what creditors tell them on it.

Creditors can not place anything on your report, unless they can prove you have a legitimate debt, and a legal obligation to pay them.

If you send a letter to the CRA to dispute this listing, plus send a "Validation demand" letter to the creditor, they must send you copies of the contract, bills, receipts, and everything used to show you owe them anything.

Now, since they can't seem to find any record of you, it's not likely they will be able to find the contracts or any other paperwork, does it?

Posting unvalidated information to your credit report is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and you can sue both the creditor and CRA for $1000 each.

So there is your solution. Read the links below. Use the sample letters I've supplied.

Good luck
Reply:You will need to get your own credit report and dispute it. If sprint has no record of you than chances are it will be dropped off. Try the following site. It lets youm get your free report from all 3 major credit reporting agencies once a year at no cost as long as your state allows it.
Reply:Call the reporting company. they may still want proff it was paid
Reply:Call the credit bureau and tell that you have paid it off and have it removed from your report. They will do it.
