How can I find what is on my credit report and begin making payments on it?

I have been thinking ahead lately and I want to buy a house when I m older and I want to take care of anything now that might stop me later on so I would like to find out how to pay things that I have on my credit report. Can anyone help me out??Please!?!

How can I find what is on my credit report and begin making payments on it?
Go to the following website to get your free credit report.. http://www.annualcreditreport.com

Any inofrmation that you believe to be inaccurate, you can dispute with the credit agency. Anything you know for sure you owe, you should contact the company to make payment arrangements. Good luck!
Reply:First step is to see what is on your credit report. A national law was passed a year or two ago entitling eveyone to a free report from each of the three credit bureaus each year. Goto www.annualcreditreport.com and get one of the reports and see what is on it.
Reply:Don't pay based on a credit report -- it could be incorrect, or simply not up to date. Do as the answerer above said and get a copy of your credit report.

Then, as bills come in, put them in a specific place and go through them. Check them against the credit report and make sure that there aren't other accounts NOT yours on the credit report. Paying bills late is what can mess you up when buying a house, so be sure to stay current! Good luck.
Reply:go to equifax.com and request a credit report - you can dispute any errors online etc... you can also order your credit score which will give you an idea of any issues.

After negative credit remarks are removed from your report how long does it take for your score to go up?

I recently discovered several errors on my credit report and paid of all remaining balances. I sent dispute letters and the errors/negative marks were deleted. Now I just need to find out how long it it will take for my score to go up.

After negative credit remarks are removed from your report how long does it take for your score to go up?
Your score is a "snapshot" at one period of time. It is computed from what is on your credit report at the time the score is calculated. It does not look at anything that WAS on your report and is no longer there.

If you sent the dispute to the Credit Reporting Agency(TransUnion, Equifax, Experian) and they removed it. That is done as soon as they agree that it was an error.

If you sent the dispute to a creditor and they said they will correct it. You will have to wait until the creditor sends updates. This is usually at least once a month, but depending on when you sent the dispute it might be a couple of months if you are between their updates.
Reply:Usually reports are updated every 30 days so look at 30-60 days dependent upon the time of the month they where submitted and verified
Reply:You are responsible for building it back up.Errors even once removed affect your rating until you build it back up.Lease a car.Buy furniture on a payment plan.Make purchases with your card and pay the balance before it's due.

How long does it take to get something off my credit report that I alread paid?

I'm going for a Home Loan and have a low score and 3 things on my credit report were paid already

How long does it take to get something off my credit report that I alread paid?
7 years from your last activity. So, if you had bad credit, and in the 6th year you thought you were being a good person and paying it off, you get bad credit for another 7 years.

Also, a good resource is this one...

http://buildcredit.ifastnet.com

Have a nice day.

Reply:You can ask the company who put the negative rating on your credit report to remove it. They will do it within a couple of months depending on the exact circumstances.

After my divorce my ex opened a credit card with me as the co-signer (probably faked my signature) and then defaulted on it which showed up on my credit report. I got in touch with the Bank and after giving me a hard time initially (...only the primary card holder can remove you from the card etc.) they removed me from his credit card and erased the negative rating on my credit reports. Hope this helps.

Reply:When applying for a home loan your credit report will be reviewed and you may be required to provide a number of other details, including: Employment and income records, Tax Returns for the last few years List of assets, List of liabilities and what you owe, Your budget showing monthly living expenses so that you can demonstrate an ability to pay.

http://www.worldbestloans.com/homeloans....

With this information you and your lender will be able to determine the kind of home loan and size of the right mortgage for you. In some cases, you can obtain a pre-approval or pre-qualified certificate, which shows how much you can borrow so that you can then shop for homes in an appropriate price range.
Reply:A low score usually only makes a half a point difference, so its not a big deal. Some lenders won't penalize you at all if the negative report has been over 3 years.

It varies based on the type of negative, paid late, not paid, collection and paid, or collection and unpaid.

Reply:It can take up to 7 years but you can go contact the companies that you paid off and they will give you a letter of credit stating that your bill was paid and when it was paid. Hope this helps I had to do the samething for my home loan.
Reply:You will have to check with the reporting agency, as they each have different rules about what stays on and when it is no longer reported. But it is usually 7 years before incidents disappear from record.

Are the negative marks on your credit report suppose to come off after 7 years?

In 2/2001 I had a judgement against me for a credit card bill. Today I received a letter in the mail saying they were going to try to garnish me. Can they do that or does that have to come off my credit report since it was 7 years ago exactly?

Are the negative marks on your credit report suppose to come off after 7 years?
If you never paid off the judgement, then they can garnish you. The judgement "may" come off your credit report - but that does not mean it's gone away. Also, if they are taking additional action, it may go back on your credit report again.

You should always pay your debts!!!
Reply:nothing comes off your credit unless it has been paid off totally and then it is still a long process and as far as a judgment those take even longer. Credit is tricky and once it is messed up it is twice as hard and three times as long to fix it. Good luck
Reply:It's seven and a half years. I read it at http://www.bankrate.com or whatever my source is called. It said seven and a half! OK?
Reply:Dobber - Where did you get your information? Your answer couldn't be more wrong. You definetly need to do some research.

Judgements and other negative marks fall off your credit report 7 years from the date of delinquency, or in the case of a judgement, from the day it was filed.

Now every court has different rules when it comes to judgements and how long they last and if they can be renewed, that is something you'd need to contact the courts about. Either way, it should be off your credit report. Once that 7 year reporting period is up you are free and clear when it comes to the credit score.

Aubreigh - It's 7 years. That 180 day period is how long the creditor must wait to list the charge off on the account, it doesn't extend the 7 years. Don't feel bad though, lots of people confuse it.
Reply:From what i understand, it's 7.5 years.
Reply:It looks like they would still have the ability to garnish your wages, but the judgement should come off seven years after it was filed. There is usually a lag from the time something is supposed to come off to when you actually see if reflected on your credit report.

When a company runs my credit am I entitled to the report?

I just applied for a loan with my credit union. Although we were approved I wanted to see what my credit report said. I was told they can't give out that information (even though it was my own credit!). I thought I had heard that anytime someone runs my credit I'm entitled to the results. I live in California. Is this true?

Here's another caveat, my credit union has no branches in California. I believe the loan was handled in their Oregon branch. If some states do have a law that requires the company to allow me to see my credit report is the law of the consumer's state enforced or the branch's state?

Thanks!

When a company runs my credit am I entitled to the report?
I think its only if u were truned down.. and u can always get a copy from www.annulcreditreport.com and happy for u..
Reply:If during the course of your loan transaction, you paid a fee for your credit report, then YES you are entitled to a copy of that report.
Reply:You are correct in that, when you apply for credit, you are notified by letter and, or in person, of the creditors decision to accept or deny you credit, based on your credit score. However, if you are approved and want to obtain a copy of your credit report, it will cost you. If you are turned down, you are entitled to get a copy of your credit report from all three major credit reporting agencies, for free!
Reply:The credit union pays for your report and they are not obligated to give you a copy, however you are entitled to a free copy from the credit report agency since your credit was pulled. You would need to contact them to receive a copy.
Reply:They are not required to show you the credit report at all. I don't beleive there is any state that gives you that right if you were approved. However, no matter what state you live in if you were declined they are required to send you a letter as to the reasons why. You then can send that letter to the Credit Reporting Agency that they got the information from and the agency will send you a free copy.

You can also go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com to get your credit report for free. You are allowed 1 per year from each of the 3 agencies(TransUnion, Experian, Equifax)

Civil Claims Judgement on credit report 20 years later-How can this be?

I just recently looked at my credit report and there is a civil claims judgment that was put on there in 2005. It turns out to be from an apartment I rented in 1985- twenty years ago. This was not on my credit report prior to 2005. The judgment is for $1500.00. It has to be a rent dispute, but I actually do not remember.

Wouldn't there be a statute of limitations on this, usually 7 years?

The rental was in the state of Arizona.

Civil Claims Judgement on credit report 20 years later-How can this be?
Yes their is a statute of limitation as to how long a creditor can file a court case to collect a debt and under the most lenient state laws the longest I've seen on a written contract debt is 10 year. Check here http://www.bankrate.com/brm/news/cc/2004... or with your Clerk of court to verify your state law. However, it is your burden to raise statute of limitation as a defense when sued. Expiration of SOL is an absolute defense no matter what the original payment dispute entailed. However, to date the courts have not ruled that is illegal for a creditor tp sue you for a time-barred debt.

The judgement was obtained in default since you did not respond or come to court. You can try to get the judgement vacated for lack of service, since the time for appeal has long passed. If thiss is not granted then there is little else you can do. The judgement can stay on your credit report for 10 years maximum. You may want to check whether your state allows wage garnishments to collect judgements if you are not able to get the judgement vacated.
Reply:If there was a judgment put there, then you are stuck as judgments start clocks rolling again. I can't tell you how this came to be, except maybe some landlord contacted a collection agency with a ambulance chasing attorney.

I think that it is scary.
Reply:Judgments can not stay on your credit report longer then 7 years. Send a dispute letter to the credit bureau and demand it be deleted.
Reply:You could file a motion to vacate based upon lack of service. There is a clock running on how long you have to file based on your State rules so check them.

How do I find a lender who placed a charge-off on my credit report?

I have been cleaning up my bad credit for some time and I found a charge from fleet CC on my report. I am fairly sure that the debt was paid, but I don't know how to contact the company to research the issue. I got this off my experian report.

How do I find a lender who placed a charge-off on my credit report?
As mentioned, the name and address of the creditor who posted to your credit report should be on your copy of the credit history.

If not, contact the credit reporting agency and dispute it again, but this time demand that they supply you with the means in which they investigated this complaint. In other words, who did you talk to and where are they located.

Failure to supply this information is a violation of the FCRA.
Reply:The contact info for all creditors reporting to the bureaus on your report is located at the bottom of the credit report.
Reply:800-390-7445........they merged with Bank of America
Reply:On the credit report there is a list of contact information for each creditor that submits information. Some provide phone numbers, other provide only address to mail your dispute. Look at the tail end of the credit report. The information is not listed where the account info is listed.
Reply:At the end of your credit report there should be a listing of all the lenders with their contact numbers for both those that have extended you credit and made inquiries as to your credit. Check there first.
Reply:You need to file an dispute on your credit report, contact Experian and talk to customer service about this.
Reply:You dispute it with Experian.

Can something that was deleted from my credit report show up again?

I checked my credit report last month and something popped up that I was unaware of. I had no clue what it was so I disputed it and, 30ish days later, I received notice that it was removed from my credit report.

My question is - can this business continue to report this? What do I do if, upon checking my credit report again, this item shows up once more? Do I just continue to dispute this until I die?

Can something that was deleted from my credit report show up again?
If the creditor didn't verify the item with the credit bureau with the 30 day period, the item would be deleted. However, the company could put it back later.

You could dispute it again. But if it does show up, send a certified, return receipt letter to the creditor requesting validation of the debt, including copies of contracts or other documentation proving the debt is yours. Give them 30 days.

If they respond, you'll have proof the debt isn't yours and can use that to get the credit bureau to remove it. If they fail to respond, dispute it with the bureau as the creditor failed to validate.
Reply:Yes it could, depends on what it was,and who sent it in.
Reply:It should not reappear unless the credit reporting agency made an error.
Reply:It could reappear, but should not and so long as you've got the paperwork about it being deleted it should be a quicker fix in future. As I don't know what it is, I can't really say for sure, but there are so many errors on credit reports that junk WILL be on a significant number of folks' reports at one time or another.

Is it possible to order a free credit report & not have a current credit card?

I know my credit is messed up, but not how bad. I need to get a free credit report to be able to start fixing this. i would like to get it over the internet, so as to make it as fast as possible. however, ever sight i have been to requires current credit card info, for which i don't have. is it therefore, possible to order a free credit report over the internet?

Is it possible to order a free credit report %26amp; not have a current credit card?
Did you know that you can usually find a local credit beaurea office in most medium and larger towns and cities. Check your phone book and look them up. IF not, contact each of the three credit beaureaus directly. Each of them has a 1-800 phone number and a fax number. You can arrange with them to E-mail, fax or snail mail it to you. These are the safest ways to get your information and keep prying eyes out or your business. The online companies that you can use will keep a copy of your credit report. Once they have it, you have NO WAY OF KNOWING what they do with your information. IF you read the FINE PRINT of their privacy statements, you will usually find that you give them the right to review it and share it with their associates. YOU WILL NEVER, EVER know who their associates (third parties) are and will not be able to control access to your report once they have it in hand.

I hope this helps.

Reply:www.annualcreditreport.com is free for all three credit reports and you can monitor it for 30 days free and print for free. You have to wait a year to get another free one from the site. The new laws require that you have access to your credit report for free once a year and so this website was set up to meet that law. This is the granddaddy of all credit reporting websites. The others trick you into paying something.
Reply:AnnualCreditReport.com is the only government approved website to receive your free credit reports.

You don't need a credit card nor are you required to register for credit monitoring services.

Just answer a few questions and...voilà! Your reports are ready to view and print.

Under the FACT Act, you're allowed one free report per bureau, once every 12 months.

You can spread 'em out or get 'em all at once.
Reply:Freecreditreport.com is the first place you can go to obtain your report. You don't have to have any credit cards, outstanding loans etc. You are by law allowed one free credit report, (basic version) issued to you a) annually, or b) if you have applied for credit in some way or another within the past 60 days and have been denied. If you have applied for credit and have been denied then you will have a letter come in the mail. It will have the toll-free number of the credit bureau that gave the applied creditor your report. All you have to do then is call the number and submit your Social Security Number and it will be mailed to you. I suggest though going to Equifax.com. You can purchase a credit report with a debit card for around $11. It's very thorough. I do it every 6 months. It will tell you what your score is, and what factors are preventing you from getting the purchasing power you desire, as well as collections reports, and the address and phone numbers of those agencies, all prior addresses, and past credit history. Good luck to you in your search.
Reply:The easiest way to get a free credit report is to sign up for a new credit card! Sign up for a card that you know you will get turned down for, or ask for a limit increase you know you won't get. The issuer will deny you, but, they are required by law to tell you that you've been denied and that you are entitled to a copy of the credit report they used to determine your status. Send them a response telling them you want that free copy, and there you go!
Reply:Try annualcreditreport.com

You'll get all three credit bureau's files for free once a year. It's required for them to provide.

Alternatively you can write them each and ask for your annual credit report, but visiting the site is best.

How can one have repossession erased from their credit report?

My friend's car was repossessed last month but, she was able to get the car back. It still shows on her credit report. What can she do to have it erased or removed?

How can one have repossession erased from their credit report?
The only way an item can be removed from your credit report is if the creditor deletes it, or if they fail to verify the debt upon a dispute to the credit agency.

You say you got the car back? Then the report does need to be updated. File a dispute with the agency, and if you are lucky they won't respond to it. If they do, at least it will be updated.
Reply:Items are never erased or removed, they only expire with time.

If this is the only negative thing on her credit report she should not worry. She should only be concerned if it appears that

a pattern of bad debt is forming.
Reply:Was she able to get it back because she paid the late payments? If so, it is reporting accurately since it was repossessed. If they repossessed by mistake, she can dispute it on her credit report. She can try to dispute it anyway, even if it was repossessed properly. The creditor might not verify the repossession. (They probably will however.)
Reply:ooops...there ain't much she can do..you might try to dispute and hope they don't answer..but she might have to wait 7 years
Reply:There is no way. You can try to work out something with the people she owed the money to, but don't count on their cooperation. From now on tell your friend to pay her bills on time. Good credit is a very valuable thing.
Reply:It can't be erased but the status of the account should be updated. Challenge it on it report. This will remove it for a short period of time in order for the company to investigate the dispute.

I have not been able to check my credit report Is this mean im doing good?

So i havent checked my credit report or nothing since i turned 18 in May of 2007..(DUH) and I got approved for a Chase Freedom awhile back and today got approved for a Capital One card does that indicate good history starting to establish?

I have not been able to check my credit report Is this mean im doing good?
that does mean good news, but your credit is still considered baby credit. You dont have alot established. treat this new credit like gold!! Dont open too many accounts because that can make you look like you have too many obligations, and then when you really need that credit for something you really want, you could be turned down. this is advise i wish i took more seriously in my younger years.
Reply:Yes but everyone has access to a free credit report once a year from all 3 reporting agencies , just go to annualcreditreport.com, It is also recommended that since you can only get one from each once a year that you spread them out at about 4 months between each. Also note that your score is not free and that there will be an additional charge for that info , but under $ 10.00 for each. If you have a credit card with WAMU they give you unlimited access to your FICO score through the web.
Reply:I will also recommend that you go to myannualcreditreport.com as it is a website available for anyone that wishes to check their credit history %26amp; at least you'll know if it agrees w/the activities %26amp; creditors you've accepted credit from. One piece of advice, don't accept all the offers you get on the mail as it'll show you're anxious to get credit cards %26amp; don't saturate them w/balances as it'll lower your credit score %26amp; it takes years sometime to bring it up high enough to qualify for a decent loan. Take it slowly but surely!
Reply:Pull your credit report and check it.

As to the credit cards, don't run up a balance. Only charge what you can afford to pay in full each month. Save on the interest and stay out of debt.

And don't loan your credit cards to anyone.
Reply:not necessarily, they give credit to anyone (like me lol) but depending on much they give may reflect how good ur credit is
Reply:Obtaining the card itself usually is a good sign however; you should never allow your credit report to go too long without attention. This would be especially true for those with common names or actively treat with doctors.

I would order an abstract in about 6 months or so to view the progress of your credit report. It took over 4 months for Capital One to place an account on my report.
Reply:No,it doesn't mean your doing well.If you should receive a rejection notice on a credit application, you can send a copy of that letter to the credit bureau , and they must give you a copy of your credit report. If you want to check it out right away, you can go to your bank and they will pull up all three credit bureaus for you.
Reply:If you just turned 18 why do you need all these credit cards? You are setting yourself up for a huge fall here.

Be smart!!

www.daveramsey.com
Reply:Not at all.

Credit card companies saw that you turned 18 and they started bombarding you with credit card forms.

How do you get debt info off your credit report to pay it off?

I'm trying to clean up my credit but there are things on my report that i have no clue about...I'm sure they belong to me but I'm not sure how to contact the company that i owe in order to pay them. Some of them don't even specify which company they are and none of them have an address or phone number...???

How do you get debt info off your credit report to pay it off?
Heres the way to do it.

Print your credit report, make copies.

Go buy some stamps.

Identify anything that looks fishy or innacurate...

Send a letter to each bereau asking them to remove this innacurate information or to provide you with the correct information.

They have 30 days to do this or they have to delete it.

Sometimes they can verify the debt and do this and sometimes they cant do it and they have to delete it.

BUT BE CAREFUL!

If you have any old debts on there that are in collections, having the CR agent try and verify this will wake a sleeping monster, hope this helps.
Reply:visit dave ramsey.com to learn some lessons.

contact the .gov site to look for credit laws.

contact local'free' legal for info about credit laws.
Reply:Yes, the collection agencies may not know where you live, but if you contact the bureau to get addresses, the bureau will share your information with the collection agency as part of the debt verification process.

You may still legally owe this debt, but you are opening a Pandora's box!

Yellow light {proceed with caution}.
Reply:Do not contact companies there are legal ways to re-establish your credit and possibly not have to pay those old accounts. Invest in a professional credit program you wont regret it www.ncnlcorp.com

May crdit report charge-offs be disputed and remove from a credit report before 7 years?
yes if you do dispute them it will be removed from your report within a week. but if you dont do anything the charge off accounts will remain on your report for 7+years.
Reply:You can dispute them if they are errors. If they are legit, the only way to get them removed early would be to get the creditor to delete for payment.
Reply:You can dispute anything on your credit report at any time. Just because you file a dispute, though, doesn't mean the charge-offs will be removed from your credit report. The credit bureaus will contact the creditors, who will then have to prove that the debt is valid. If it is a valid debt, the charge-off will remain on your credit report. If it is a mistake, or if the creditor doesn't respond in the allowed amount of time, it will be removed.

What is the best way to make a business owner realize how important their business credit report is?

what is the best way to make a business owner realize how important it is, to establish their business credit report with dun %26amp; bradstreet (even though they have to pay a few hundred bucks for thevalidation) even if they do not intend to use it for credit purposes?

everyone thinks that they can use their personal credit for their business, and feel that no one cares about d%26amp;b is this true?

What is the best way to make a business owner realize how important their business credit report is?
The reality is that for a small business to medium sized business owner who does not have need for outside financing or already has that financing relationship in place, they have little need to be listed on d%26amp;b.

Also most privately held companies do not want to put out to the public the information that d%26amp;b typically asks for. I worked for a privately held German company that did over $100,000,000 a year in sales and did not list with d%26amp;b or give out any financial infromation for any reason. Any vendor that requested financial information was simply told we do not give that out.

I currently work for the owner of a privately held company who wishes he had never listed with d%26amp;b.

You asked what the best way is to make business owners want to go with d%26amp;b, well you have to get past the issues above.

How can you suppress an account from your credit report?

How can you prevent a negative/positive account from showing on your credit report for an extended period of time.

How can you suppress an account from your credit report?
If it's accurate negative information,it stays for seven years....While you can't suppress the into, you do have the right to request validation of the item and per the Fair Credit Reporting Act they are supposed to change the status of the item to something like "under dispute" until the item is validated (or removed). Here's how to request validation:

Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act you have the right to request written validation of negative entries on your credit files. Per this law they must validate the item(s) or remove them from your credit file.

Mail a letter via certified mail with return receipt to all three credit bureaus (Equifax, TransUnion %26amp; Experian). Include a photocopy of your driver's license and social security card...If you don't include these, they may write back requesting them, which would slow the process down by several weeks. In your letter, simply state:

Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act, I am requesting written validation of this item.
Reply:You cant... its there for a minimum of 7 years..... You can improve your credit score by concentrating on other accounts you have balances on...
Reply:You can't - the account will be reported for 7 years from last date of activity. The only way you can get it taken off is to dispute it and win the dispute.
Reply:pay it off! the only way to keep something negative off your credit report is to not default on it. sorry besides that they report to your credit.
Reply:what you described in your additional details is exactly how "credit repair" agencies repair your credit. they send dispute letters to creditors to make them verify the debt. if they don't respond in a set amount of time, the item is removed. it will only return in a few months though. you could do the same thing yourself with microsoft word and some postage. you would be far better off just paying ontime and keeping your balances low...as there are no guarantees that the above will work consistently or at all. creditors are getting much more wise to this method.

Is accepting a payment plan for my credit card debt the kiss of death on my credit report?

I have been getting 30 and 60 lates on my report and I can't seem to pull out of this cycle of lates now that my rates are so high. My score is in the toilet. Will it be even worse when my report shows that I am on a payment plan, or can this be the first step into repairing my credit?

Is accepting a payment plan for my credit card debt the kiss of death on my credit report?
A payment plan is an excellent idea and will definitely help your credit. As long as you pay on time, your creditors will report to the credit bureau that you are in "good standing". It's in your favor to establish a payment plan, and if you're going to be late with a payment, call the company and ask for an extension.
Reply:Having a payment plan and not being late is a lot better then continuing to pay late. Sounds like your credit is already in the toilet so a payment plan with no late payments has got to be better.

Once you pay on time for 6 months to a year, or so, the delinquencies won't be on your report anymore. I was delinquent for a couple of years on my college loan and I've paid it regularly for over a year now. Those late time don't show up on my credit report anymore.
Reply:It's the way to start repairing your credit score.

Your score is already ruined

Site set up by the big three credit reporting agencies in the United States, to furnish free annual credit reports, as required by federal law.

I love their commercials.
Reply:AnnualCreditReport.com is the site set up to view your credit reports from each of the three credit bureaus online. It is the only site that doesn't require you to sign up for monitoring and is approved by the FTC.

Sometimes you can't get your report online and have to send in copies of ID to prove you are who you say you are. This is a matter of the credit bureaus being cautious.
Reply:You can go to:

It was set up by the government. I am fairly sure it's "string free." If it's not this one, the government has MANDATED that the big 3 reporting agencies give you 1 free report annually.

Hope this helps!

Once a year you can get one from the three big credit companies. Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian.

I do it every year. Completely free, no strings attached.
Reply:The credit report is actually free.

You have to give the credit report companies your:

credit cards, bank accounts information;

so that they can give you a rating based upon your spending habits, whether you pay your credit card balances on time, and if you have ever gotten finance charges or late payments.

Reply:I wouldn't do it online, b/c like you said almost all of the things have strings. Its scary, I'm a mortgage broker, and a company i worked for recently was purchasing leads from EXPERIAN that's right we were getting peoples information directly from the credit bureaus?? ISN'T THAT SOME STUFF!! And it was legal!! I don't work for them any more thanks Bob. So I would suggest finding a friend that is a mortgage broker and having them do it for you, as most of us can pull credit on someone whenever we want to. BUT ID BE VERY VERY CAREFUL ABOUT DOING IT ONLINE no matter where the source is !!

What if items that have been paid off in full are still showing on my credit report?

I'm working on my husband's credit report. He has a mortgage account that has been paid off for 1 yr. and it's on his report twice...does this hurt his score?

Also, he has one account that has had a $0 balance since May 2005, but it's still reporting. The account is closed but they are still reporting (positive) monthly, like he's still making payments on an open acct. Will this affect his available credit %, do I need to dispute with the reporting bureau?

What if items that have been paid off in full are still showing on my credit report?
Send certified mail to the creditors requesting them to update the inaccurate listings immediately and send you certified letters of receipt showing the payments have been received and the accounts are in good standing. Those letters will help you in the meantime if you're applying for credit and those listings are still showing up.

Nine times out of 10 this is a simple paperwork error or someone just dropped the ball. If they give you any hassle and you feel the need to get more aggressive you can inform them that they are costing you potentially through interest rates and lines of credit you might not receive due to inaccurate listings.

Read up on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA); it details what steps you can take to protect your credit from inaccurate listings. A simple google search of FDCPA should bring up the FTC site detailing the law.

Additionally, ACA - The Association of Credit and Collection Professionals, is a GREAT resource for consumers with questions about their credit. This organization basically upholds the gold standard of the credit and collection industry; they pride themselves on helping consumers resolve issues to protect the positive public image of the industry. If you have more detailed questions they can be a huge help: www.acainternational.org
Reply:The mortgage accounts on your husbands credit report are hurting his score unless it notes that they are paid for. Make sure to dispute these charges with all reporting companies so they can resolve. If an account is paid off, it will still show on his report, but shouldn't hurt anything. If the one account shows as an open account, it does go against his available credit. Contact the credit to close the account and also dispute the claim on your report to advise them that this is a closed account. I had to do this several times on my to clean a few errors.
Reply:Don't know as your asking in Dollars, this is U.K site, sorry can't help
Reply:Unless paid off items state that they are paid off, they are hurting you. Go to your bank and talk to someone there about getting these things removed from the credit report. Then, every couple of months check to see if they are removed, if not after asking for them to be removed, get a lawyer to help.
Reply:Derogatory accounts show for 7-years from the date of first deliquency and positive accounts show for 10-years from the date last active.

Do not dispute positive accounts ever. As long as they show $0 balance and a good pay history they are helping your husband score.

Is there any way to remove unpaid parking tickets from your credit report?

I regretfully didn't pay a few parking tickets on time and consequently the city handed them over to a collections agency. As a result, these parking tickets, while now paid off, are showing up on my credit report. Is there any way to remove them or is there a time period when they will no longer show up on my credit report?

Is there any way to remove unpaid parking tickets from your credit report?
At some point in the future, the collection agency will probably neglect to renew the entries so they'll go away. I hear a lot of people say that entries such as collections go away after seven years, but that is simply not true.

The best thing you can do is dispute them with the credit repositories. Write a letter claiming those collections are not yours. Send the letter Certified Mail Return Receipt (CMRR). The repositories will have 30 days to verify your dispute with the collection agency. Since you're paid and the collection agencies are no longer interested in you, chances are they won't respond and the credit bureaus will have to delete the entries.

Good luck.

Rick Lanicek

http://www.primelendingonline.com
Reply:yes.. you can try calling the collection and see if you can work it our, or send a copy of the proof that you paid them to the credit bureaus. If you dont get lucky consider hiring somebody to clean and restore your credit for you.. they always do it, and a parking ticket is not a major thing
Reply:will never be removed from your report, ever. get proof you paid these collections off and submit them to whichever bureau reported it. if it was all three bureaus then you need to report to all three bureaus. also, get in contact with the collection agency themselves and hound them to report this payment to the bureau as well. most times they only care about getting paid and not about keeping your report straight.
Reply:Write a letter to the three credit bureaus and provide proof of payment to each one. Ask them to remove those tickets from your credit report.

TransUnion and Equiserve are two. I don't remember who the third agency is.

How can you get a delinquent account removed from your credit report? You can't pay it, so how can you get i

My father is trying to get his credit straightened out, so yesterday I requested an annual free online copy of his credit report, which indicates that he has 3 delinquent accounts (turned over to a collection agency), even though the amounts were only $25, $50, and $25. He also has 2 companies to which he owes money, but even if he pays the money he owes to those companies the delinquent things will still be on his credit report, so even if he gets a job and tries to get a loan the loan companies will probably still see the delinquencies and use them against him. So what can he do to have the delinquencies removed from his credit report? There has to be something he can do to have them removed, because they are only $25, $50, and $25. It doesn't seem like that is such a big deal.

How can you get a delinquent account removed from your credit report? You can't pay it, so how can you get i
As long as the information is correct there is no legal way to remove derogatory accounts.

They will continue to show for 7-years from the date of first delinquency.

This is why it's called credit history.
Reply:This is really a simple fix. I used an online credit repair kit I got at www.creditrepair101site.com It helps you remove negative items in order to boost your score. I got a quick 50 point bump.
Reply:Make it a condition of payment of the debt that it be removed from the credit report.

Otherwise it will stay on your credit report for 7 years.

You don't necessarily have to pay Collection Agencies,

depends whether they purchased or were assigned,

and if the statue of limitations hasn't ran out. Don't

ever talk to them on the phone, there is a letter you

can write to them in specific reference to them,

ask for validation, put in writing but follow the

procedures on the website www.creditinfocenter.com
Reply:Can he pay as little as $ 5 a month? If so send it to the companies but make sure the are not dup's the same amount just with different companies. Also keep all reciepts once the amount has been paid make sure they give you a letter stating the amount has been paid and turn this in to the credit companies.. Also u need to atleast start making the payments this way you can show proof he is making a attempt to pay the collections off. Loaning money is based on past present and how long you have been on your job and how long you have lived at your home. If the companies have not turned your history to the credit companies do it yourself.
Reply:Most credit agencies will work with you if you pay the account in full. Make sure you get it in writing though. Also, after 7 years those accounts drop off your credit report. I had to just wait out some of them that wouldn't budge. Honestly though, $50 or $25 is really small potatoes when dealing with creditors.
Reply:He can ask the credit people to verify and if they can't they will be removed.

He should go ahead and pay them the worst that can happen is they age off in 7.5 years from the date they went delinquent.
Reply:File a dispute with the credit beaureau...

Chances are good that the companies will have written off such small amounts and there will be no "Proof" to dispute your dispute...

Then they would be removed automatically.

How can I resolve the collections debt NCO FIN/35 on my credit report?

I recently acquired the three major credit reports, and noticed that on two out of the three I had this collections debt on my reports.

On the Experian report it has it listed as closed, but on the Equifax report the status is still opened. The original date it was opened was back in 2002, and I had no idea that I had owed anything to anyone.

It's only listed as a $50 debt which I would have had no problem of paying at the time, but for whatever reason I had no idea of its existence.

I have tried and do some research on how to settle this, and get it removed from my reports, but have had no luck.

I would greatly appreciate anyones help on this issue. Thanks.

How can I resolve the collections debt NCO FIN/35 on my credit report?
write a letter to each disputing the entries.

The credit bureaus will investigate, and give the collection companies 30 days to prove that you still owe.

most collection companies will not post that you paid off a debt, because it costs them to do so, and is free if you dispute it, so they'll wait until you do.
Reply:If you write each credit reporting agency disputing this claim, they will have to do research and verify that the creditor is in fact valid and that the account is open.

If they find that it is, you have little choice but to pay the amount owed. The lines will still remain on your credit report, but they should not go towards "Bad credit" if they are paid off.

I have had many of the same problems, mostly with cable companies claiming I never paid my bills when I have. I hope you have more luck than I did!
Reply:I've been fighting them myself. What sucks is that when I owed them money, they reported to the credit bureau every month. When I paid them off(5mos ago), they stopped and I can't get them to report to the credit bureau to clear my account. These are dirty dudes. Ask for Anthony Nolton. He was a real ballbuster and I try to talk to him everytime just to ruin his day.
Reply:contact nco fin/35 %26amp; ask what was the original creditor %26amp; credit card number. review your records. pay it or dispute it. then correct it on your credit report.

What does "Charged Off as Bad debt on your credit report mean?

I have two things on my credit report from two different credit cards. One of them show it as a $0 balance now and the other card still says the amount I owe. I was just wondering what this means.

What does "Charged Off as Bad debt on your credit report mean?
Charge off is a accounting term that simply means that the credit card company does not think you will ever pay them so they are writing it off as a loss.

The bad thing is they will sell it to a collection company and they will come after you and that activity will also show on your credit report.

If the debt is large enough, they can take you to court and get a judgment, at that point they can attach bank accounts, garnish wages (if your State allows it) and file liens on any property you may own like cars, boats, land and homes.

This also will show on your credit report making it very hard to get any other types of credit without making large down payments and paying State maximum interest rates.

And yes weather you pay it or not, it will show on your report for 7-years from the date of first delinquency.
Reply:It means the company wrote it off as bad debt and don't expect to receive any payment. They most likely then sell it off to a collection agency.
Reply:It means you never ever paid it, and they believe it will never ever be paid either. It will sit there for 7 years staring at you and your credit report as a result of it all too!
Reply:A charge-off is an accounting procedure for tax purposes used by the creditor where an uncollectible debt or charge-off is reported as a loss for the creditor. Creditors typically write off or charge off a debt if there has been no payment on the account for more than 180 days or six months.

How long do I need to have a car loan before paying it off to get credit for it on my credit report?

When I bought my car in January, I could have paid for it in cash but wasn't sure I wanted to part with the cash. I now want to pay off the loan, but the guy at the car dealer said that I shouldn't pay it off right away or I won't get "credit" for it on my credit report? Is this true? If so, how long do I have to have this loan before I get "credit" for it on my credit report?

How long do I need to have a car loan before paying it off to get credit for it on my credit report?
The question is do you need an installment loan reporting on your credit file to increase your credit score?

If your credit score is already 750+ then if you can pay it off, do so. If you need the car loan to report for credit improvement then you should make at least 12 payments that report to maximize your use of the loan for credit purposes.

Good Luck

Reply:if the loan was from a bank not the dealer you will get credit for it. paying it off will reduce the interest paid so bad for the bank, good for you. you need to get a letter from them at time of payoff stating loan is paid and they release the lien on the vehicle. sometimes motor vehicles needs it, like when you sell the car. also if you do not see it on the credit reports within 3 monts time you will need to ask the bank to please record it with them. they get behind in reporting sometimes. the letter will be helpful to show in that instance as well.

How do I go about getting old entries off of my credit report?

I have a couple of liens that have been paid off over a year ago , and a forcloseure that was paid over at least 4 years ago that still appear on my credit report.

If I still owed them I could understand it, but I don't owe these

creditors anything any longer. And the mortgage was paid off !

Someone said I should write to all these creitors individually and ask them to remove the enties, but it seems to simple to be true. And if it is true, how long after I request the removals should it take??

How do I go about getting old entries off of my credit report?
You have to wait 7 years before these items be deleted.
Reply:If the information on your report is accurate you cannot have it removed. The fact that the items were paid does not matter. The information will remain on your report for seven years.

If there is inaccurate information on your credit report, you would need to contact the credit reporting agency (Experian for example) and not the creditor.
Reply:I co-signed a loan for a vehicle for someone and it was repossessed. After I paid the balance of the debt(it was charged off), I filed a dispute with the credit agencies(you can find this information on the three major credit reports websites) that it was paid and it was removed. I did not have to wait seven years. Each company that you may have had trouble with is different but it is easy enough to dispute through the agencies. They have a month to respond with either taking it off or telling you how long it might have to stay. If it's been 4 yrs I can't imaging why they wont take it off. You are not their priority anymore, so that is probably why they didnt bother to update and take it off your report. Hope this helps!
Reply:As the previous posters have already said, these will stay on your credit for 7 years but they should show as "paid" or "satisfied". If not, contact the agencies to get it changed, and get it in writing from them because updating your credit data is not an immediate process and you'll have that as proof if you need it.
Reply:Once the debts are paid, they stay on your report for 7 years - but they do show as paid or settled, not as open accounts.
Reply:Instead of contacting the individual creditors it would be better for you to get a copy of your credit report and contact the credit bureau. Dispute the specific items in question and provide explanations. The credit bureau will check with the creditors to verify the debt. If they cannot verify it than they need to take it off. If the creditor verifies a debt that you think is paid off, dispute it and contact the individual creditor referencing the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Sending written correspondence via certified mail is the best way to back up your claims. You should keep a record of everything you do. You have to keep up the pressure and keep checking to make sure the changes are being made.
Reply:your looking at 7 to 10 yrs. before they go off.

How do I get a bad rating off my Credit Report?

I was irresponsible when I was young, I allowed two credit cards go to collections, I was able to pay it off 3 years ago in full. Now it's biting me in the rear. (no big suprise there) i've been told by several people whats the point if you can't get off your credit report. Is there any way to get if off?

How do I get a bad rating off my Credit Report?
Negative items will remain on your record for 7 years from the date of the negative item. So in the case of the "Charge-Off" of your accounts that will be 7 years from the date of last delinquency, not from the date you paid it off. For example if you went delinquent in 2001 and paid it off in 2003, it will be removed in 2008.

You won't be able to get the original creditor "charge-off" off of your report until the 7 years has passed. However, if there is still the collection account on there you might be able to get it off. To do this send a dispute to the credit reporting agency(TransUnion, Experian, Equifax), requesting verification of the debt. There is a good(but not guaranteed) chance that the collection agency will not verify the debt. If they do not verify the debt it will be removed.
Reply:You can only wait the full seven year time period for it to fall off on its own due to age. Assuming this history of yours is valid, there's no way to change it. That's what a credit history is all about.

It's your past history of how you did (or did not) handle your financial responsibility.
Reply:try disputing with the credit reporting agency.
Reply:Contact the credit reporting agency and make sure that it shows paid in full.
Reply:If you have paid the collections in full, it will say on your report paid in full. As far as it not being on the report completely, after 7 yrs it will be removed.

Since you paid it i wouldnt worry about it. When you have reports checked by lenders they will see that debt has been paid. If a lender ask you about it just explain what happen while you were young. It happens to alot of us.

How do you find the information of a creditor on your credit report?

I recently did a credit report and there are a couple things on there that have went to a creditor and i dont know what they are from. How do i find out what they are and pay them off.

How do you find the information of a creditor on your credit report?
Usually on the back of your credit report, or the last pages, it'll have the contact info on everyone that has something on your credit report. If not, try calling the credit bureau you got the report from. They may have them on file. If worse comes to worse, google them. But read the entire credit report then call someone first.

When looking at your credit report what is a charge-off account?

I have several accounts on my credit report that show the status as 'charge-off'. What does that mean? Is it a good thing to have a charge-off or is it bad?

When looking at your credit report what is a charge-off account?
It means whoever you owed the money to wrote off the debt because they couldn't collect it from you.

The bad news is, you now have to pay taxes on that because the IRS considers it income. You basically got whatever you charged for fee so it's now income.

The other bad news is they can still sell that account to a collection agency who can still try to collect it from you.

It's definitely a bad thing.
Reply:These are accounts that that you owe money and the owner of the account has written the account off as noncollectable. These are really bad. You will never get credit again. You can approach the owner of these accounts and make an arrangement to pay the debt in exchange for removing them from your credit report. They may or may not. These remarks will never fall off you credit report. They have to be removed by the account owner who put them there. Until then, forget about credit.
Reply:Charge off is incredibly bad. That means that the credit card company has excercised every avenue that they could in order to collect the funds and have decided that you were "a lost cause". They then charge off the debt as a loss on their profit and loss sheet. Strangely enough, you can get a charge off removed from your record by calling the credit card company and negotiating a payment to them. If they charged off say 2,000 they may settle for 1,000 and remove it from your record.
Reply:Bad. It means you didn't pay your bills and they had to write off the balance. They don't consider you a good credit risk.
Reply:It's a bad thing. A charge off means you didn't pay the money back and the bank got tired of messing with you/it so they felt it was easier to just charge it off than try to continue getting the money from you. there's nothing you can do to remove a charge off from you report until it falls off after 7 - 10 years.
Reply:Really bad. means the debt was so uncollectable they wrote it off completly for tax reasons. PAY IT.

Specifically, how long does negative information remain on your credit report?

I have information on my credit report that is reflecting negatively on my credit score, due to late payments. I know that negative information like this remains on my credit report from 3 -7 years. However, when is it removed? I have read that it is removed based on the date of the first delinquency (in this case April, 2001), and then then I have read that it is removed based on the last date information was reported on the account/date of account closure (Jan, 2003). The account I am referring to is paid in full, with a zero balance. Based on this information - would the information be removed based on the April date or the January date? Is it exactly 7 years? - for example, if we use the January date, it would be removed in January of 2010. Can anyone clarify this for me?

Specifically, how long does negative information remain on your credit report?
7 years from the date of 1st deliquency. So the April date...I would expect it to come off by May 2008.

It really shouldn't be affecting your credit that much at this point. Usually anything paid off more than 3 years ago isn't taken into great account in your credit score.

If you feel it is really hindering you then you should try to dispute it with the credit bureau. I recently disputed several old items on my credit report and 4 of the really old items were removed...so it is worth the effort.
Reply:This is a good question and as a former lending officer for 15 years the answer is yes they are to come off automatically in 7 years however, that does not always happen. The best thing you can do especially if the credit card is $0 and you have closed it is to call the credit card company and ask that they remove that from your credit report. If the card is still open and you are still using it then at the end of 7 years from the last late paid then call them and ask them to remove the derogatory status on the account. Again, this does not always happen automatically and that is why it is important to check your personal credit report at least once a year.
Reply:Usually 10 years but it depends on what kind

of negative information you are talking about.
Reply:Negatives fall off your credit report 7 years and 180 days from the date of last activity (DOLA) which is the default date. If your account was 30 days late in April, the count starts from April. It should fall off by October 2008

Paying does not add another 7 years to the reporting period.
Reply:Let me clarify Bdancer's answer more clearly.

THE 7 YEAR REPORTING PERIOD STARTS FROM THE FIRST MISSED PAYMENT THAT LED TO A CHARGE OFF OR COLLECTION ON THAT ACCOUNT... BY LAW A CREDITOR MUST REPORT AN ACCOUNT AS A CHARGE OFF AFTER 180 DAYS OF NON PAYMENT..... WHICH IS WHY IT IS CONSIDERED TO BE 7 YRS + 180 DAYS BEFORE IT WILL BE REMOVED FROM YOUR REPORT. THIS IS THE FEDERAL LAW REGARDING REPORTING.....THERE IS ALSO THE STATE LAWS WHICH CONCERNS THE STATUE OF LIMATIONS ON WHICH YOU CAN BE SUED ON A DEBT GONE BAD. EVERY STATE HAS THEIR OWN TIME FRAME REGARDING THIS AND IT SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED WITH THE 7 YR + 180 DAY FEDERAL TIME LINE.

In your case, since this did not go into charge-off status, this item should drop off in March of 2008.
Reply:About 7 years not not show in your report. Trust me when you buy a car or home it will show even if it 30 day late payment. You might want to consider getting a monotoring program of account. I have www.freecreditreport.com and it works great its only 13 bucks and every months it gives me an update of my current credit status. Good luck :)
Reply:Derogatory accounts show on your credit for 7-years from the date of first delinquency.
Reply:Items can stay on your credit report for up to 7 years depending on the item. They will not necessarily or automatically be removed by the credit bureau. It is best to contact each credit bureau yourself. The removal is based on the "date of last activity". Many creditors will also "renew" your account by transfering the debt to a new account number in order to keep it active(if there is still a debt owed). An aged account on your report with a zero balance and lates does not necessarily affect your rate negatively. In fact, it might not have an effect at all. beware that when a score is calculated, several things come into play, it isn't a cut and dry format.

How do you follow up after you have submitted a dispute regarding something on your credit report?

I recently mailed some documents to dispute an item on my credit report. I received a phone call from an automated service stating that my request had been received and my dispute should be completed in 14days. Don't really know where to go from here, or what the possible outcomes may be. Ive tried looking online but it seems i am looking in all the wrong places.

How do you follow up after you have submitted a dispute regarding something on your credit report?
If you disputed it with the credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, TU), they have 30 days from the date of filing the dispute to hear from the collection agency/creditor to validate the debt. If they cannot do so in this 30 day period, the item MUST be removed from your credit report. It will still take some time for the bureaus to remove the item from your report, generate a new report with a letter explaining the action, and get it into your mailbox. There is really nothing else you can do at this point....except wait for the mail.

If you filed the dispute with the collector, that's another story entirely. I've never heard of a credit bureau calling you with an automated message stating they received your dispute, which makes me wonder if you're talking about them, or a collector.

Regardless if the dispute is granted or denied, you will hear from the bureau. If a change was made, they will send you a new credit report.
Reply:Once they acknowledge receipt of your complaint it may take several months before it is resolved. You will get something in the mail. Credit bureaus are large bureaucracies and their procedures cannot be rushed.

How long do they review previous payments, late payments on the credit report?

What constitute the number of months do they review under each specific creditors that appear on the credit report?

How long do they review previous payments, late payments on the credit report?
Most of my banks do not look at anything older then 6-months as far as late pays go.
Reply:If you cleaned up your behavior, most items fall off after 7 years. Many lenders are more concerned with the last 2 to 3 years unless it is a large dollar amount.
Reply:Credit reports show last 60 months payment history on each account
Reply:in general rout credit report retains information for 10 years.
Reply:Any outstanding payment due more than 3 months.

How can I check my credit report if I am under 18?

I am afraid I might have some junk on it.

I tried annualcreditreport but my report would be inaccurate if I lie of my age and I couldn't get it when I said I was 15.

And do not tell me I cannot have a credit report because if my name is being used for things then I can have junk on there.

How can I check my credit report if I am under 18?
Actually no.. you really CANNOT have credit untill you are 18.. . because if your under 18 you wouldnt have to pay because you would have been a minor when you got your credit cards or whatever.... If you have a credit report you should be able to get it.. https://www.freecreditreport.com/Order1....
Reply:I don't think you can even have credit under 18, unless you have a credit card that is co-signed by someone over 18 with good credit.
Reply:If you have a SS#....and you have a credit card and used it...there is an existing credit report on you. Try Experian.
Reply:Yea...if you have a credit report you can find out...shesh :oP

I have paid off my credit 7 to 8 years ago, but the info is still on my report. How do I get it off?

I need to get old info off my credit report; I have paid everything off and have been perfect for seven years!! I make good money and pay my depts. But I can get a loan to fix my house. My home is paid off and my dept to ratio is perfect.

I have paid off my credit 7 to 8 years ago, but the info is still on my report. How do I get it off?
The credit bureaus are not going to take the effort in taking these items off your report, so you need to send them a dispute letter for every item that is in question, make sure that it is within the 7 to 7 1/2 years. There are books that are out there that will give you example of credit dispute letters, that will guide you in the right direction for attacking these voltures. Once these items are deleted, you will soon see your scores go up, up, and away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a beautiful thing. You can also try a credit repair company they will do the same thing, but they have more time and patience to do this type of work, this is all they do, and they know the laws. But for something as simple as disputing because of obsolete info or time limit (statue of limitations), you can do it yourself, You just need time and patience, paper, pencil, and a recent credit report.

Go for it, you can do it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:I would check with the collection office. Perhaps that office did not report to the credit bureau that you have paid off everything. Good Luck!!!

How to errase Collection items on my credit report?

I signed a lease for an appartment and then I moved to my house and gave the appartment to my roomate. When I moved out he didn't pay the bills and collection agency started calling me. I paid the bills but its on my records now. Can I get it off the credit report as I was never contacted. Am I still entitled to all the bills as I signed on for the lease? Any way to clear that out?

How to errase Collection items on my credit report?
You have a couple options. First would be to go through the debt validation/dispute process (known as the 1-2 punch) and generally that will solve the problem, especially if they are paid.

If that doesn't work, you can try sending a "goodwill" letter asking them to remove the negative marks. Creditboards.com and CreditInfoCenter.com all have good information and sample letters you can use.
Reply:Do you know if it's actually hit your credit report? Most don't. When you move from an apartment you need to switch your name from the utilities. If not, you are ultimately responsible. You can get a free credit report, and if they show up, dispute them. You may want to consider suing this individual in small claims court.
Reply:sure just write a letter of dispute and send it to them and tell them you have paid it off and want it removed if not you can report it to the BBB or consumer fraud and file a complaint
Reply:You can dispute the record but if it turns out to be valid, it remains for seven years regardless. Get copies of all three credit reports and simply write to them to give your side of the story. If they cannot verify the information, it has to be removed. You have nothing to lose.
Reply:visit creditboards.com they will have sample letters and tell you how to go about the disputing process the best way. it is free. i have used i to get some items deleted.

Reply:So, you moved out, left the bills in YOUR name and also never filed a change of address form?

Even if it was the companies job to inform you that your account is overdue (which it is not), they would send notice to the billing address which you provided. Did you ever bother to check the mail at your old apartment? Did you ever attempt to provide them with your new contact info? Did you ever check in to make sure your old roommate was paying the bill on time?

Clearly not. You abandoned your open accounts with these companies, which you had an obligation to pay, and did nothing to ensure that they would be paid the money owed to them. Doesn't matter if you eventually paid them back....Your actions were still incredibly irresponsible, say a lot about your character, and that is why it's going to stay on your credit report for the next 7 years.

Consider it a "life lesson".
Reply:You can also place a statement on the account explaining the situation. Something like "Apartment was sub-leased and I was not made aware of my tenant's failure to pay until after this was reported. Account has been settled."

How long does foreclosure stay on a credit report?

My mom's house in CA is unfortunatly going into foreclosure and I was wondering how long that would stay on her credit report or if it's on there permanently.

How long does foreclosure stay on a credit report?
7-10 years

How long does information appear on my report?

A credit reporting agency stores information from credit grantors and public records, including bankruptcies, judgments and liens. Potentially negative information, such as missed payments and most public record items remain on a personal credit report for 7 years, with the exception of Chapters 7, 11 and 12 bankruptcies, which remain for 10 years, and unpaid tax liens, which remain for 15 years. A paid tax lien will remain for 7 years. Positive information may remain on a report indefinitely. Paid closed accounts generally display for 10 years. Requests for your credit history remain on your personal credit report for 2 years.

Reply:That is a very interesting question because there is one aspect no one else has mentioned and that is one of the questions asked on almost every signature loan and collateral loan is " In the last 7 years have you had a bankruptcy" and another question asked is "Have you ever had a foreclosure" so which do you think lenders see as worse. One example of this is that some people will go through bankruptcy and the house will still be foreclosed on.
Reply:The foreclosure is on there for 7 years.

However, if they bank resells the home for less than what is owed on it, your mother will be responsible for the balance, or a judgement will be placed against her, and the judgement could remain for 10 years on a credit report.
Reply:A foreclosure stays on your credit file for 7 years.

What would you suggest for a 20 yr old to do about 4 negative accounts on credit report?

What would you suggest for a 20 year old who is about $2500 in debt...I want to improve my credit but I have 4 negative accounts on my credit report. Would you suggest I get a credit counselor and have them give me budget plan to settle my accounts. Would this help my credit score? Has anyone ever went through Money Management or Consumer Credit Counseling?

What would you suggest for a 20 yr old to do about 4 negative accounts on credit report?
If you are considering credit counseling, make sure the company is a member of NFCC (http://www.nfcc.org/). These are legit, non-profit companies that can review your finances and advise you how to proceed.

Paying off derogatory items on your credit report will not improve your score. The damage is already done. However, creditors look at your whole report, not just the score. Paid old debt always looks better.

You can negotiate settlement of derogatory items yourself. If the derogatory is more than 3 years old, offer 25%; 2 or 3 years old, offer 50%; less than 2, offer 75%. Lump sum gets the best deal. Payment plans have to be short term -- less than 6 months. Get any agreement in writing and keep it, along with your payment proof, forever. Do not give collectors direct access to your bank account.

You will need at least 24 months of consistent, on time payment to see improvement in your score.

How can i obtain a credit report in Ontario for free?

I owe some credit card debt and am unable to get a credit report from transunion over the phone but ive moved more than a few times.

How can i obtain a credit report in Ontario for free?
Yes. There are 3 credit reporting agencies but only two really matter. Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada.

http://www.transunion.ca/

http://www.equifax.com/home/en_ca

In both cases they will give you a credit report for free if you write to them and request it. The web-sites though try to sell you a online report so you really have to look for the free option.

For Equifax you'll see it in small print on the right about half way down.

https://www.econsumer.equifax.ca/ca/main

For TransUnion you need to jump thought 4 pages to finally get to

https://www.creditprofile.transunion.ca/...
Reply:Previous answer was correct.

Print off the forms, photocopy your ID (drivers licence and a recent utility bill) and mail them in to both Equifax and Transunion.

The free reports seem to arrive between 30 and 45 days after you send the request off, so be patient.

How come my credit report is different when a mortgage company runs it?

ok I monitor my credit through creditexpert.com which is part of experian. I went through 2 different morgage lender but when they print out my credit report, some of them is not showing on another, and some of them doesn't show on my report on creditexpert.com?

How come my credit report is different when a mortgage company runs it?
different lenders or companies use different models.

there's a new model coming out every year.

like the new fico model coming out in september that will not allow authorized users for scoring.

the point is this.....Windows came out with a new program called Vista. Most of us are still using Windows XP even though the new model came out.

It's up to company to use the new model or not. If they continue to use the older models....then you'll always have different scores. Also..some lenders dont use FICO
Reply:Well there are three credit reporting agency's and they all have their own way of calculating your score so this produces three different scores.

Add to this the fact that some lenders do not report to all three credit bureaus and this explains the differences.

Now there are also three different types of credit bureaus that lenders pull. There is the standard one which is the one people get from the net or the credit reporting companies, there is the auto enhanced version which is the one the car dealers and lenders look at and there is the factual version which is the one the mortgage lenders look at.
Reply:then quit paying creditexpert until you straighten out your

three credit bureau reports individually. Then they should

all be the same

www.creditinfocenter.com
Reply:Trans Union, Equifax and Experian are where your info is stored. You should monitor all three to ensure accurate info, not just Experian.
