Does an overdraft fee from a debit account affect your credit report?

I have over-drafted my account many times, but I always pay up and pay the fees in time, but this has happened probably 20 or so times. Will this go on my credit report?

Does an overdraft fee from a debit account affect your credit report?
No it doesnt affect your credit score unless it goes to collections. However if you go to get a loan "mortgage or car loan" and they ask for bank statements the overdraft fees will adversely affect your chances of obtaining that loan. It shows that you are irresponsible with your money. It is best to carry a balance in your accounts, do the math you said its happend 20 times or so, standard overdraft is $39-$59 at the bank plus what the retailer charges you could possible be looking at $100 per overdraft, tahts $2000 of your own money down the drain for no reason.
Reply:No, bank accounts are not listed on a credit report. Only loans and charge cards that are not directly tied to a bank account (unless it is a secured card made to specifically help your credit).
Reply:Normally....no...but if it eventually finds its way to a collection agency for non-payment....it might end up that way....

Sounds like you have a problem....Try this: Use your bank account ONLY for depositing and withdrawing money....No checks, auto-debits or debit card payments....If you have to pay via check...withdraw the appropriate amount and get a money order.....This method will put a stop to the NSF fees..
Reply:no debits cards don't get recorded on your credit score
Reply:I don't believe debiting against your checking account will negatively affect your credit. I mean, you are using YOUR money out of YOUR CHECKING. I don't see why it would. I mean yes, you are borrowing money that isn't there when you overdraw... but I don't think it's linked. I'm not positive though, i hope this helps.
Reply:No, only if they are sent to a collection agency for nonpayment. But you might want to budget better b/c if you need your bank to finance something for you, they will notice all those overdrafts and deny you credit. Also, think of all the money you are throwing away. Most banks charge about $20 for overdraft fees. Thats about $400 thrown away!
Reply:As far as I know banks do not report checking accounts to the credit bureau unless the bank closes the account for the NSF*S.
