How can I remove a public record dispute off my credit report?

I lived in these apartments back in 2002 and I lost my job and I got behind on my rent. We were scheduled to go to court for my eviction but on the day of hearing I paid my rent and all late charges. I even lived in the apartment for another 8 months. I got a copy of my credit report the other day and it says that I owe the apartment company $242 and it shows up as a public record debt in my credit history. How can I get that removed? Help!!!

Okay, here is the problem. Public access records will indicate any civil and or criminal litigation. Being that the land owner requested a forcible entry (commonly known as an eviction) It was set on the court calendar for hearing, assigned a case number in result opening a record file under your name regardless of the out come, verdict or settlement prior to the hearing. You may have the court seal that particular record, depending on your local laws this may require more money then its worth. What I’d do before going that route:

First, contact the credit report provider. Dispute the debt and request proof that an agreement between you and the landowner existed in the first place. If the complainant is unable to provide original document signed by you then they can not put this debt against your credit. Another thing to think of is your payment method made to this person/company. Was it a check/can you prove payment was rendered? I know this is all jumbled but hopefully you find it some what helpful, good luck!
Reply:If you paid up before a judgement was entered, then there shouldn't be one in existence. Did you pay rent on time for the remainder of your tenure? If so, there is no earthly reason for the blemish to be on your record.

Write to the holder of your credit history, giving a full explanation of the facts, and disputing the validity of the record.

Hope this helps.
Reply:You can try a credit restoration company. The one I used that really did a great job was
