How long does a judgement stay on your credit report and how does it affect you?
7 years from the date the judgement took place. This is governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Reply:At least 7 years. If it is renewable, then it can be longer. It pulls down your credit score and makes it less likely you will get credit, jobs or a decent insurance rate.
Reply:Most judgments, including small claims, civil and child support, will remain on your credit report for 7 years from the filing date.
