What to if your credit report shows a charged off account?

I have an account on my credit report that is charged off. Do I leave it alone or try to pay them. What is going to happen to the account if I leave it along?

What to if your credit report shows a charged off account?
Charged off or delinquent accounts will remain on your credit report for 7-11 years from the date of your last activity. You can not do anything to get ride of this from your record except pay it off, and make sure that you make all your payments on time. You should also monitor your credit report so that you know of any possible changes that are made to your account and who looks at it. Reply:Once you have a charged off account on your credit report, it will stay there for 7 years. Even when the amount does get paid off, it will still be there. But, it is a good idea to pay it off because that way it will prove that even though you messed up once, you paid off the account and are no longer liable.
