What happens if something hits my credit report before I close on my home?

I am buying a house with my financee. My credit is poor and hers is pretty good. We are set to close at the end of July, and I just found out that my mother opened a cable account in my name and that she let it go delinquent a few months back. What should I do, will it show up on my credit report? Is there any way to dispute it?

You're either going to have to dispute it and report it as identity theft (which you might not want to do since your mother can go to jail for fraud) or just pay off the bill to clear up your credit and take her to small claims court later on. Chances are that it won't be a problem, but if they do pull your credit right before funding, then you might have to take one of the above two measures.
Reply:You should dispute it with do it yourself credit repair. Don't let a cable bill threaten your home. Usually companies charge hundreds of dollars to simply pull your credit and send correctly worded dispute letters—this is the key…..people will tell you that you can do this yourself for free but the truth of the matter is that the credit bureaus will throw your letters away or simply reject them. There is an easy to use online kit that will deliver the results you want available for just $19.95 at the source website. A similar kit is being sold via infomercials and radio talk shows for seventy dollars more but they try to solicit you repeatedly for other services after the fact.
Reply:Well, I would tell your cable account company your credit and hers. Why is your credit bad anyway? Just think about what good can come out of the situation and NOT THE BAD!
