What should i expect on my first view of my credit report?

I first opened my credit card when i was 18 years back in 1997, i was immatured when it comes to money, I was never on time, and couldn't really afforded to pay my bills. Now i'm 28, and i have become much more mature when it comes to money. In the last 3 years, i have been on time with bills. I got rid of my credit cards when i was 21 because it got to be too much for me. I just requested all three of my credit reports, and i'm a little scared because of my past mistakes. I may also have some bills that i havent's paid since 2000. What is most likely i'm going to see on my credit report, and what can i do to make it better for the sake of my future..??

What should i expect on my first view of my credit report?
Don't be surprised if there are mistakes. A lot of times the three reports will have different things and a few mistakes. Make sure you get those fixed because they affect your score!

Your score should be pretty good if you've been good about things in the last 3 years.

Also make sure they take off anything older than 7 years that's bad. Legally it should only go back 7 years.
Reply:If you still have debts you haven't paid for seven years, then expect a big flag on your credit report. Just because you cancel the card doesn't mean the debt goes away! You need to pay those debts pronto.

It was good that you cancelled the cards when they got to be too much for you, and very good that you're now handling the billls responsibly, so that may help boost your score back to average.
Reply:It should be better. If you had bad credit before but it was a long time ago and you fixed it, then it shouldnt be that bad. Anything super bad like car repo's and bankruptcy might be there a while. If you have any accounts open, it increases your credit score. I have a monthly subscription to freecreditreport.com. I can access my credit report and score at any time. About 13 bucks a month. First thing you'll see is personal info, then debts owed, what they are, and so on.
