How do I remove a lean from my credit report after I have payed it off?

I payed a lean off 5 years ago and I have the papers to proov it. But the lean still shows up on my credit report. I have been told to send it to the credit burrows but need to know how.

How do I remove a lean from my credit report after I have payed it off?
Any loan paid off will stay on your credit report for 7 years AFTER it is paid in full.
Reply:Get the credit bureau address...it's probably Equifax or TRW. Send them a copy of your proof of lien being paid and send a cover letter to explain your situation.
Reply:You need to wait two more years. Even after something is paid, it can remain for 7 years.
Reply:Even if you pay it off it'll stay on your credit report for up to 7 years.
Reply:It depends on whether it leans left or right. Just kidding. The term is lien. You write a letter to the reporting agency and give them the details. If you have copies of documents that show it is paid off, send them with the letter. The agencies are obligated to make corrections to your record.
