How do I put comments on my credit report?

I read I can put a comment on my credit report, but I don't know how. Can you please help and give me some direction?

How do I put comments on my credit report?
If you pull your credit report ... and yes do it with all three credit bureaus ... you can add comments to any item on the report and do it all online. You can also dispute items you believe are in error. You are limited as to how much you can write ... as I recall ... maybe 80 characters or so ... so you have to be pretty concise. You are legally entitled to get a free copy of your credit report from all three of the credit bureaus once a year

Also you can find some advice here...

All the best to you.

Reply:I can only answer for the UK, so apologies if you are from US or somewhere else.

Under Section 159 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 you can add what is called a 'Notice of Correction' (or NOC) to an entry on your credit report. This is used to explain circumstances, not to dispute details (thats a different deal, different legislation).

It must be under 200 words, and contain nothing defamatory or frivolous, also not mention third parties by name. It must be submitted in writing (email, fax, letter are OK)

In most circumstances you'd be asked to obtain your credit report first, so you can then advise on specifically which entry you want it added to - you might be able to get round that if you already know.

If it is a password NOC, or one explaining voters roll information (for example that you aren't registered because you are a foreign national), then you wouldnt actually need to get your credit report first.

You'd need to send it to one or all of the 3 main UK CRAs, Experian, Equifax, and Call Credit.

Apologies again if you are from the US, but I hope it was interesting anyway :-P
Reply:You call Equifax 800-685-1111 or 888-766-0008 and follow their directions. They want the reports to be complete and your explanation makes it complete..
